I envisage my app to be similar to Two Dots.
In the overview/map screen, similar to the TwoDots maps or the Papa Pear map, it will display a map of levels as a journey and where the current player is and how well they've gone in previous levels. Every business starts off small and is a journey to become a big business. Probably best to somehow incorporate the mascots, but that's up to you.
When playing a level: at the top is the current objective/goal for the level and what sort of conditions a business maybe subjected to in that round. I imagine a user would click this objective at the top to reveal more detail about the level (such as "there's going to be a downturn", or "you're receiving a lot of positive press" "please take note")
In the center of the screen is where the student can play with their business's budget/numbers. I imagine when clicking on the title of name of the item, it would show how changing that number would affect the business (like product price: + means higher price which means more profit but less customers, - means lower prices less profit margin but more stock movement and more customers)
And at the bottom is an estimated score of how well their business will preform after click a "run" button to simulate their business with the numbers they have put in.
After a level has been "run/executed", the success of a level is determined by how close the virtual business got towards the goal, or by how much it overshot the goal. I will need to show some metrics, like "the number of employees hired was too high" or "you sold your products at a very cheap rate and didn't make as much".
All of these vague metrics will be compressed into an arbitrary score that can be compared with other students for leaderboard sake.
