Isaacporras got their new app design by running a design contest:
iPhone/iPod Virtual Percussion Instrument App Design!

Entertainment & The Arts
Creates realistic drums, cowbell, and tambourine sounds when shaking the iPhone or iPod to the music. It is very responsive and feels like playing a real instrument. Right now we are starting with one shake direction with a free App with iAds. If it becomes popular, we will add new shake directions with other new features in a no-Ad paid version. The first shake direction is with the iPhone/iPod in the right hand with the screen facing away from the palm and shaking it like a hammer hitting a nail in front of you. The user can select from 4 sounds to activate in each shake direction. The 4 sounds are Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cowbell, and Tambourine.
I would like the design to have a cartoon and or Anime feel to it. New Logos, icons, and clear design showing how the user is supposed to shake the device to activate the sound. I would like to use cartoon animations to show how to shake the device. The user will be shaking the device, so the screen won't be seen that much. The screen is only used for playing a song and initial set up of the sounds. I did submit a first version of Go Beats to the iTunes store, but it was rejected due to poor graphics and user interface. Apple is becoming more picky about the looks of their Apps. There is a Pocket Shaker App in the iTunes store, but is has 2.5 star rating because the sounds are bad, the graphics are poor, and it has poor response to the shaking. I would like the interface to be similar, but with a much more simple cartoony look and feel. I think I can get a much higher rating with my fast response programming and better graphics. You don't have to go by the templates and pictures I provided. They are only a concept. There may be more creative ways to select different sounds and show the user how to shake the device. The quality of the App should be the same or greater than the previous design I received from 99designs.com for my Go Save App. It is in the attachments for reference.
NO STATUS BAR, for some reason, my PDF layout included a status bar, but I don't want it. 1. Load Screen 2. Main Window showing the choices of sounds and the shake direction that the sounds will activate with. Possible animations on how to shake the device may be needed, but if the design is clear enough, then it may not be necessary. The MUSIC button allows the user to launch the Apple Music App from within this window to play a song from the user's music library then return to the Main Window Screen to play along to the music. I haven't decided whether to put the iAd on the top or bottom yet, but the bottom would allow for more accidental clicks, which may generate more revenue, but might anger users. The Info icon activates the Info/Help screen. 3. Info/Help screen: This screen should have an animation (or very well illustrated) tutorial, a link to the Go Beats! web page (http://www.solarcyclepower.com/inde), a back button to the Main Window at the top, and an email support button on the bottom linking to email@example.com Provide .psd and .png formats for all assets. They should be 3GS and 4GS compatible.
