electricthumbs got their new app design by running a design contest:
iPhone Photography/Drawing Game App

Entertainment & The Arts
We are creating a turn-based game app that involves photography and drawing. It is similar to Draw Something. If you have had thoughts that you could make Draw Something look/work better, please read on!
The game basically allows players to draw on photographs and have their friends guess what they are depicting. We would like the icon to be a simplified picture of a polaroid with a drawing of a mustache on it. (on wireframe attachment) ***We would like a design that captures the simplicity and sophistication of photography apps, but also incorporates a fun, light game app feel.*** The targeted audience is tech-saavy and between the ages 16-40 of both gender. We would like the design to incorporate the following: - poloaroid - mustaches - (and possibly but used only a little: vintage cameras, brushes/pencils) While we like the simplicity of Draw Something's UI, we would like to be more creative in simplifying and beautifying our home page the way Instagram and Pinterest does.
Draw on Me
This design brief includes information about the home screen and the "look and feel" of the app only. Finalist(s) will be provided additional information to complete the app. The home page will have: 1. Navigation bar with name of app. We would like to incorporate a simple drawing of a mustache on the left side of the name. 2.. "Settings" button (on navi bar. right of the app name) 3. "Create New Games" button 4. On-going games buttons with... a. square Facebook profile picture b. player's name, and c. "play" or "waiting" sign The "waiting" sign will go across the profile picture and profile picture should have a shadow overlay to look "dimmed" 5. "Shop" button This will allow users to shop for different colors and photo tools 6. "Share" button To share on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter 7. Level indicator This is the only element that is not a button. We are thinking of using graphics of different colored mustaches to represent different levels. There will be a number indicating how many turns the player has to play until the next level ie. 15/20 turns We would like to have a vertically split screen with one side of the screen dedicated to on-going games. This on-going game list will scroll vertically. The other side can hold the rest of the buttons. Please note attached wireframe. We like that the split screen allows us to dock key buttons, while eliminating negative space. We will take other UI into consideration. So if you have other ideas, please propose! We are open to creative suggestions. Since this app involves photography, we would like to make good use of photos rather than negative space and writing. Your submission will be more seriously considered if you could also include your version of the drawing screen of Draw Something that matches the "look and feel" of the home page. It should include: pencil color pencil thickness eraser thickness trash button done button edit button
