Described as a 'powerful flame within a delicate flower', I'm a professional dancer and teacher working to share the beauty and joy of this art form. I'm passionate about helping people through dance whether it be through personal transformation or simply by creating a beautiful memory they can cherish. I'm constantly inspired as a teacher by the stories of body acceptance, emotional healing, and personal growth that my students share with me. Seeing my students blossom drives me to keep doing what I do. My view as an entertainer is that my job is done when everyone is smiling and happy. I'm honored to share important celebrations with people from extremely diverse backgrounds.
WHY THIS PROJECT?
I'm one of the most sought after teachers and performers in my area, but I'm moving and would like to put together a press kit that will allow me to continue doing the work I love. I want something that immediately communicates a mood consistent with my performances - engaging, upbeat, beautiful, professional, joyful, playful, exotic, and captivating.
WHAT IS BELLYDANCE?
Bellydance is a dance of joy and can be seen all over the Middle East as men and women, young and old dance at parties and celebrations. It features precise muscle control and articulations, beautiful hand and arm work, and movements ranging from strong and percussive to smooth and flowing.
- Future employers
Event sponsors who might want to hire me to either perform in a show or teach for a day or weekend. DVD producers in hopes of being included in future projects. Restaurant owners for regular appearances. Corporations for one-time events.
- Talent agents
- Members of the press
I might contact members of the press to generate buzz about a DVD release or upcoming appearance.
This project is for the folder that will contain my resume, photos, a business card, re-prints of past press articles, and (in some cases) a DVD with examples of my work.
In this case, I am the brand, so I've attached several photos to work with. I'd like it to have a beautiful and exotic feel to it, so I've also included an example of several Middle Eastern backgrounds from iStockPhoto. After seeing one of them in two of the designs, I'm feeling like maybe suggesting that is a bad idea. I think the piece should be feminine and flowing. Perhaps architectural images aren't the right feel at all.
I've also attached a flyer I made. My skills are not so great in the graphic design department (thus this post), but maybe it will demonstrate my taste a little bit.
Thank you so much to anyone inspired to help me!
