BoomWriter (http://www.boomwriter.com)
BoomWriter allows children to collaborate on books. With BoomWriter, every book is a competition - authors write their own version of the next chapter and then vote on which entry is their favourite. The winning entry becomes the next chapter and the competiton starts again. Authors are awarded points as they take part in and win chapter competitions.
Every author has their own avatar which they can customise. More points unlocks more options.
Used in schools it is a fantastic learning aid, engaging the children in a fun, safe environment. It promotes competition whilst allowing everyone to shine.
BoomWriter is a not-for-profit organisation, set up to promote creative writing in children.
Predominantly children aged between 8 and 13, but may include a couple of years either side.
2 character variations - 1 male, 1 female (vector format - adobe illustrator). Looking for a human form, but open to interpretation (e.g. a robot, a monster with a human shape). Can be very similar to each other (male and female twins).
Characters will be displayed at various sizes, but should fit into a 200-250px square and still look good. Attached some examples to show the style we have in mind. Our best reference is the characters from Pixar films - a stylised 3d feel. We are open to different styles.
Characters will be used in a flash app. allowing the children to customise them (different t-shirts, tops, trousers, shoes, boots, hats etc). We only expect you to show a single set of options/clothes as this competition is for the base character.
Over time, extra characters will be created so there is a possibility that this contest could lead to further opportunities.
