fichysc got their new other design by running a design contest:
A new spin on the proven, but tired, fund raising thermometer

We are a multi-generational church located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Within our church we have several ministries, one of those is a pre-k through 12 grade school, Palmetto Christian Academy. This project is in support of a new building, the Student Life Center, being constructed on the church campus that will enable expansion of the school as well as support youth ministries, home and public school student families, and the local community.
What's your vision?
We're hoping for a design that serves two primary objectives: 1) It needs to communicate the status of donations received relative to the total amount needed to build the Student Life Center. A proven but over-used/tired way of communicating giving status is some variation on a thermometer image (see sample provided). We're hoping for a fresh but clear way of achieving this objective. Note: the design should allow for adjustment of the level of giving over time and the file type should support as well (.eps, .ai or similar). 2) It should reinforce the purpose of the Student Life Center which is to support Christ-centered education using symbols to represent: a) Christian faith (this would be expected to be a cross), b) Science, c) Technology, and d) Athletics.
The name of the new building - Student Life Center - should be prominent. It is desired, but optional to incorporate our fund raising slogan: "Expanding opportunities for Christ-centered education" in full or part. The design would be primarily used as an image on a web site landing page and potentially a smaller version to be used as an icon placed elsewhere on our websites and e-newsletters that can be clicked to lead people to the landing page with SLC related info - purpose, benefits, FAQs. The giving status should be visually clear and all words legible when the design is as small as 2 inches high. The desired pixel size is 1920px x 1080px. We have included logos for East Cooper Baptist Church and Palmetto Christian Academy. If you would like to look around each website you can get a feel for our design style -eastcooperbaptist.com and palmettochristianacademy.org We have plenty of images of both our church and school so if images are needed we would prefer to use our own.
