CancerBlows is a non-profit organization that raises money for cancer research through musical events featuring classical and jazz brass instruments like the trumpet.
It has a wide target audience from music lovers to families impacted by cancer.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Album Cover for the first in a series of albums titled Re:mission. This album is Re:mission - Rubato. It is a collection of concertos & other works performed by Ryan Anthony, the founder of CancerBlows. Several of the works performed were composed specifically for CancerBlows & Ryan and are classical/jazz musical interpretations of his battle with cancer over the past seven years.
The title is word play. Remission is the goal for all cancer patients but the title as re:mission is also as a reference to reengage ourselves to our personal mission whether it is to make music or to find a cure for cancer. Rubato is a musical term meaning to push or pull the rhythm to create phrasing. But its literal Italian translation means "stolen" so musicians when they play "rubato" are "stealing time" from one beat to the next. For this album, the Rubato portion of the title refers to Ryan's ability to create beautiful musical phrases by stealing time but it also refers to him stealing time from his diagnosis. Seven years ago, he was given just three years to live and, while his cancer has returned, he continues to "steal time" and survive.
Album title is Re:mission - Rubato. (Future album titles may be Re:mission - Legato and Re:mission - Coda.)
Dimensions are 5" x 5" (visual). Allow a little extra for full bleed.
Must include the CancerBlows logo in some way but you can take some license with it. And must include Ryan Anthony's name.
Colors are black, white, silver, grey, navy and others in that feel. CancerBlows blue is Process Blue. (Logo is attached.)
CancerBlows albums are classical/jazz/pop music by trumpet players to raise money for cancer research so using musical notes, staff, trumpet would be fine but do not use other instruments like a saxophone.
Artwork should be simple, graphic and may include graphics like trumpet, musical note or a trumpet player but should not be too busy. (But if you have an amazing design in mind that is more complicated, do not be limited by the instructions here - we just do not want the usual throw a bunch of wavy staff lines and music notes everywhere.)
We plan to use a variation of this art on all three CDs (with changes in coloration, etc.) so there is the potential for more work later if you win this contest. K-pop albums that use variations of art for the same album or do series of albums are a good examples like Seventeen's 6th Mini Album - You Made My Dawn or BTS's Love Yourself series.
See attached images of other CancerBlows designs and k-pop album series.
