Title of Book-Remember When...Baby Boomer Memories of Days Gone By
When my friends and I began to turn 50 in 2007, I searched high and low for the perfect book for all of us so we could take a walk down memory lane and reminisce about the good old days. The results… there were none to be found. Yes there were books about the history of our era, but there weren’t any books that really tell the story about how wonderful it was to grow up during the baby boomer years. Memories of the past include: the rotary phone, the milkman, the 4:30 movie, the weekly reader, catching lightning bugs, the transistor radio, Dark Shadows, Romper Room, The Worlds Fair, S and H Green Stamps, The Automat, Gas lines, P.F. Fliers, Jiffy Pop... The list goes on and on! I receive constant emails of people reminancing about memories of the past, and I started to write down my memories which when finished, I had a book of 151 pages. Now I am searching for the perfect cover to I can promote this book and help others share in parallel memories.
I also wrote a book on the college admission process called: A Parent Student Guide to the College Admission Process which is self published and on the Amazon and Barnes and Noble Website. You can google the title to understand what type of cover I used for that project.
There are over seventy six million baby boomers in the United States. By the year 2014, the last of the baby boomers will be turning 50 years old. This is my target audience. Aside from baby boomers, I look at this book as a coffee table book, a novelty gift, or a book for special birthdays. As I said earlier, there are many books about the history , but there are no books about what we did as children during this era.
I am open to all ideas. Below are just some suggestions.
Retro cover (an example of background ideas attached)
Ideas can be a:
1. 50’s-60’s TV set with the subtitle of the book inside.
2. A drive in movie theater sign with title inside and cars from the 60’s, 70’s era
3. A man sleeping in hammock or chair with a bubble over his head with icons from the baby boomer era.
The font should be retro.
Attached is just a sample of the background I am referring to when I talk about it being retro from that era. Ignore the picture. I am open to any and all ideas for an eye catching cover.
These are the dimensions for the book cover from the self publishing co:
