Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I'm a consultant that works primarily in the area of public folk arts or traditional culture / arts programming. I focus mostly on Arab arts, and specifically dance. I am also a dancer (Egyptian and other folk dances of the Arab world). I curate dance at an Arab arts center and consult with the Brooklyn Arts Council's Folk Arts Department and other local arts organizations.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I want a business card. For years I had a dance card and an office card for the Brooklyn Arts Council, but now that I'm consulting and performing less, and teaching more, I need something to hand to people I'm doing fieldwork with for new cultural projects, local organizations, and even potential teaching venues (studios for dance and colleges for guest lectures). The most basic need is that to communicate my contact information and name, and that it look professional. I also need a few words to describe what I do- I've chosen "Traditional Arts Programmer - Arab Arts & Dance" I prefer a sleek / modern design, with something different. Perhaps a vertical format. Maybe matte. Perhaps some motif that relates to Arab arts (such as henna patterns) Nicole Macotsis Traditional Arts Programmer - Arab Arts and Dance address Brooklyn, NY tel 646.462.5691 email email@example.com firstname.lastname@example.org
I live in Brooklyn, NY. Much of my work is with local ethnic groups in the borough- Arab American, spanish speaking, Greek American as well as community activists , local businesses and social services organizations. I also work professionally with arts organizations, Folk Arts departments, and local and state folk arts officers. The audience is often immigrant, as well as people who work in culture with these populations.
