We are originally from the UK and Sri Lanka and now living in Australia. We have just finished our postgraduate studies and are starting to work. We got engaged in January this year and the wedding has been set for January 2009. Even though the wedding is taking place in Sri Lanka it won't be so traditional, we are going to try and merge the best parts of the UK and Sri Lanka ceremonies. We want it to be a relaxed event where everyone can have fun.
The wedding invitation should have the main design feature and this design should be reflected in the save-the-date and RSVP cards in some way. That is - they should be a miniature of the main invite or have a element of it.
From this competition we would like designs for these three cards:
1. Save-the-date cards:
These will be sent 6 months before the wedding to guests who will have to make plans to travel to Sri Lanka. These will have our names, the date and venue and indication that formal invites will follow. And they should say "save the date" of course!
These will be sent out 6 weeks before the wedding to all the guests including those who received save-the-date cards. This will be the largest of the three cards, no larger than A5. It will contain the usual wedding invite details but we may need additional space to provide information on hotel accommodation.
3. RSVP cards:
Sent with the invite and will be the smallest of the cards. This should have space to write out up to three guests' names and some way of indicating if they are attending or not attending.
We are thinking of light, spring like and natural with stylised floral elements. Colours such as green (soft, natural, avocado?), brown (rich, dark, wood?, chocolate? - but not for the background), white, gold(dull)/yellow(soft) or feel free to suggest your own colour scheme. All three designs need to be landscape in orientation and unfolded. The actual card stock can be any of the colours in your chosen theme.
We had the following initial idea for a design:
Perhaps rght aligned text with design moving in from the left and
fading to watermark as it reaches the text. The design idea was for
flowers or buds on a branch reaching towards the text. With the text in
brown on green card stock.
Modern, simple, sans-serif, no script, close together but tall letters - perhaps you have a better idea?
