andrew_cruickshank got their new t-shirt by running a design contest:
Edgy, hip surf/skate style t shirt to appeal to 20-somethings
Check out andrew_cruickshank's T-shirt contest…
A modern, youthful, colourful slightly edgy hand drawn look. Think surf/skate wear, or punk/indie band shirts aimed at 20 year olds.
The shirt is for the city of Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is known for it's coffee. Especially the 'Flat white' which is visually similar to a cafe latte but served in a ceramic cup with slightly less foamed milk. The t-shirt needs to feature an image relating to espresso made coffee (Think: cafe latte, cappuccinos, milk, latte art, espresso machines, coffee beans etc) and the text 'Melbourne'. Image and text should feel organically related to each other. Text does not need to be separate from the image, it can be incorporated into the image. Think outside the box. T-shirt is one sided. The image is on the front. back of t-shirt is blank. Note: Most people are doing the same thing. You don't have to use a cup of coffee. Just anything related to espresso based coffees and making them. Have a look at this short video if you're unfamiliar with coffee making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1u2LBJ6550 It should look hand drawn. It should be hip, modern, youthful, edgy, playful, organic. Should be similar in style to skate /surf wear or indie band t shirts/ tattoos. I will be posting more photos to give you some idea of styles I like.
What to avoid
Don't use any photos, clip or stock art. It should not look like it's been produced on a computer. Do not use other people's fonts.
