We're looking for designs that would make fun baby gifts. Think quirky robots, monsters, construction equipment, Buddhas, by-gone rockstars, cute animals, pirates, candy, vikings, Ganesh and other Hindu gods, punk-rock ponies, dinosaurs, funky flowers, cool ironic puns... You get the picture.
**Update 5/17/08** Every single one of you designers are fantastic. Thanks for submitting your designs. The talent here is amazing. We are going to start to eliminate some designs to narrow down the options. Those of you that have designs that get eliminated, we'll make comments where appropriate but please let us know if you have questions. I'm going to be traveling for the next few days and will have limited access to the computer, so please be patient if I don't respond quickly.
**Update 5/16/08** Wow! The designs are looking great. In fact, there are so many good designs that we'd like to be able to have more 'winners' than we'd planned on so we're increasing the awards. Here's the plan: We're going to offer first, second, and third prizes. The prizes will break down as follows:
First Prize of $100 (2 awarded)
Second Prize of $50 (3 or more awarded)
Third Prize of $25 (there may be lots of these)
We understand that we'd initially only offered a first prize. If you are offered a second or third prize, you are welcome to pass on the award. Let me know if you have any questions!
**See full description for more updates
The short summary pretty much says it. The design is going on a baby t-shirt and needs to reproduce well. Images should be no larger than 10" square and 2000 pixels at 200 DPI.
We are looking for several designs, so don't be afraid to submit lots of options!
**Update 5/15/08** You all are coming up with some great designs! Keep them coming. A few ideas to play with:
-Take something cute (like a drawing of a lamb) and add a little hipster edge to it (like converse allstars or DJ headphones). Design #44 is a good example of this
-Play with ideas of labeling the baby, but it's got to be funny and make sense. "Fertilizer Production Unit", "Attention Hog", "Freeloader", "100% Free Range Organic Baby". #20 took a stab at this approach.
-Watch out for cliche baby shirt phrases like "My Dad is Cool" and "My Mom is Hot". The graphic has to be AWESOME to overcome the cliche. Try playing on these cliches with phrases like "My dad thinks he's cool".
- Be creative!
- Hip but not cheezy
- No trademark or copyrighted logos, images, slogans, etc!
