Limulus needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 38 designs submitted by 8 freelance designers.
Me: I provide my clients with sites to market their products or services in the best light possible.
As a former designer, I have both great respect for design work, and an understanding of the process involved. I strive to provide all with as much feedback as I can. I'm also always looking for designers with whom I can establish longer-term working relationships. Even if this contest isn't for you, but your interested in keeping in touch, just send me a message.
My Client: A business that renovates and restores homes that have suffered damage from any number of accidents or catastrophes.
The target audience is the home owner that is need of emergency restoration services. In the majority of cases, this is a stay-at-home mom, but could be anyone in the household. In all cases, it will be someone that is looking for professional service from a company that will take care of them, and that they can trust.
The target audience has usually recently undergone the trauma of having a lot of damage happen to their home, and they are looking for a company that they can trust. We want them to feel that they will be extremely well treated and have nothing to worry about. The team will restore their home to its original condition, or better. We want people to feel like everything is going to be ok.
The site won't be too complex - a single front page design is what is needed most. It will need to accommodate a large flash banner on the front page that will introduce the business
We're looking for something that appeals primarily to mothers or other home owners that have recently experienced damage to their homes and are looking for a company that will take care of them and make their home a great place to live again.
The site will feature some education on some common problems, and will showcase some before and after shots of other renovation jobs
Some words to describe the feel of the site:
- warm
- clean
- safe
- lively
- friendly
- family
- professional
- peace of mind
The site needs to be better than sites from similar services, such as the following:

I've attached a wireframe PDF that indicates some of the content and the general layout. You don't have to follow the layout exactly - please be creative. Two low-quality logos are included - it needs to be present on the site somewhere visible. The second one (default_01.jpg) seems to be the closest to the corporate colours - try to keep it close, but there is a little bit of room here to work with the blue.
