We provide metal and computer recycling services globally. Our target audience is other businesses who have obsolete metal equipment or computer equipment that needs to be recycled.
Use current websites for some guidance. These pages will need to be consistent with current website design, although we are looking for fresh design ideas to create an engaging page. I am attaching our corporate color palette to help guide you.
LOCATIONS PAGE Sims Metal Management has 270 locations worldwide where we collect metal for recycling. These are our retail locations and the most frequently viewed pages on our websites. Here is an example of a current location page - http://us.simsmm.com/Locations/Massachusetts/Worcester. This page shows a sister company (Sims Recycling Solutions) and shows a location page with a little more detail - http://us.simsrecycling.com/Locations/Sacramento-CA. Please use the attached wireframe, LOCATIONS DETAIL PAGE.pdf that shows all fields that should be displayed on your design submission. There are many more fields shown on the pdf that what is shown on any of the live webpages. Attached is an updated wireframe which you will see includes quite a bit more information than what we currently have on our locations pages. We are looking for a design that is consistent with our current website design, but offers fresh design ideas that we can use to form the foundation to provide a bit of a refresh to our current site. It is important to maintain the general placement of the different page elements, as we have prioritized information based on what is most important to our users. We welcome ideas to make the information on this page more engaging for the users. As indicated above, these are important pages on our website.
What to avoid
Please be mindful - our current sites have a bit of a hard feel to them - please keep your design consistent with current feel of the site. I have yet to see a design that relies heavily on the orange and yellows of our color palette be well received by our organization. Please use these colors as accent only.
Please use ARIAL font for page layouts. This will be most consistent with our current website. Please refer to LOCATIONS DETAIL PAGE.pdf - this is the wireframe that the design needs to follow. SIMS_MAILER_6x9.pdf is some postcard concepts that may be useful in mocking up the LOCATIONS page. Use this link -http://184.108.40.206/SIMS/V0.9/ Focus on LOCATION DETAIL PAGE SMM - LONG only. Thank you & sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know if you have a problem accessing this link. This comment added on FRIDAY - please note the change in wireframe. Please see LOCATIONS DETAIL PAGE UPDATED WIREFRAME.pdf that I just uploaded. The information in the RED BOX is what has changed on the wireframe. I'm not asking you to include the red box in your design, it is only there so you can easily see the change I have made to the wireframe. We had hoped that one of the designs submitted would offer a creative solution to show SERVICES OFFERED and COMPLEMENTARY SERVICES OFFERED working together in the design. To date, we have not received a design that shows effectively the synergy between these 2 sections of the website. The updated wireframe offers a suggested solution to show the synergy between these 2 sections. You are welcome to submit a different solution, but if you do not have a suggestion that better shows the relationship between these 2 sections, then please let this updated wireframe inform your design. I apology for the last minute change, but designs that have been submitted to date have not effectively shown the synergy we are looking for. If it's not clear, the idea would be as use rolls over 1 of the 4 services offered, a pop up would appear that would show the complementary services. So the example shown, as user rolls over FERROUS METAL RECYCLING, the complementary service message would be: Ask us about: Pickup services for large loadsBox trucks – for easy loading and dock accessContainer or skiff drop off & pick-upOn-site demolition and renovationDismantling services If they roll over Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling, they would see a different message for complementary services.
