Grodriguez got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Help European Climate Foundation with a new website design
Check out Grodriguez's Web page design contest…
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) shapes climate and energy policies that reduce Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions, foster the transition to a low-carbon economy, and help Europe play a stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change. We build alliances among a wide range of partners in government, business and the NGO sector. Our programme staff collaborate with grantees and experts from the field to design and fund sophisticated strategies based on a thorough understanding of decision-makers, decision-making processes and political pressure points. Our website serves to strengthen our positioning and clarify the work we do by highlighting the initiatives we fund through our six programmes and the goals/successes of each. Our six programmes are Global Climate Policies, EU Climate Policies, Power, Energy Efficiency, Transport, and the Energy Strategy Center.
The current ECF website is very text heavy. We would very much like to move towards a less dense page layout with less emphasis on text and more imagery/pictures. We want a site that is both professional and attractive. Think “less is more.” Regarding the imagery, we want to include visuals of people, not just abstract ideas, in order to connect the notion climate change impact to people. We also want to show more diversity (women/children) – not just white males. The site needs to be easy to navigate and user friendly, with an effective search function and site map. See attached ECF style guide for guidance on color, icons, and typefaces.
• Homepage should provide a brief description of the ECF (1-2 sentences, inviting people to read more in the “About Us” section); this content will not change. It should also have space for “Featured News” about climate-related policy decisions, major conferences or events or new publications. We also will want additional space to highlight recent projects or initiatives. Relative to our current site, the new homepage should include much less text and have much greater visual appeal and coherence, with meaningful graphics and imagery. • About Us landing page should provide a more detailed description of the ECF’s mission and how we work. The content will likely be similar to the “Our Role & Strategy” section of the annual report. This page will be the jumping off point to multiple subpages – and Leadership/Staff, Supervisory Board, Advisory Board, Funding Partners, Work with Us (for potential recruits), and Contact Us – and should invite readers to click through to some or all of that content. • Programme landing page should provide a text overview of the programme as well as a variety of media (photos, charts, videos, infographics). The body text will likely be organized under the following subheads: The Challenge, The Opportunity, Our Strategy, Areas of Focus. There should also be sidebars/sections for “Featured Projects” or “Case Studies” and “Major Grants.” We will likely use this same page template for project case studies, like the “Spotlights” in the annual report.
