Entertainment & The Arts
I am currently looking to redesign the anime site RealityLapse.com to have a more "modern" and flexible look while maintaining the current color sheme. I really like the recent redesign of Arstechnica.com and would like to base my redesign in that direction as well.
See the current layout at http://www.realitylapse.com and http://arstechnica.com/?view=archive Homepage / Base Layout: I plan on switching to a two column layout with one column designed to fit a 300x350 ad banner. The top : The top portion of the layout should be similar to Ars Technica with a logo and a 728x90 banner. The navigation links should include links for "Home", "Videos", "Mp3s", "Manga", "Forums", and "Contact". Although, I like the use of a home icon instead of actual text that says "Home", I feel like the other menu items would be less obvious with an icon. There should also be a navigation area for browsing by letter. Finally, I would like to move the login area to the top of the screen. Content Area: The content on the main area of the front page will more or less remain the same. However, I would like restyle each listing to match the new layout. I would also to have icons for each listing that allow users report problems with that particular episode, view screenshots, and share (perhaps include Facebook, Twitter, etc). There should also be a dropdown somewhere to provide more options (similar to hovering over Facebook news feed items). Side Bar: Since the login area should be moved to the top, the sidebar should primarily focused on the content that is present on the left. However, I plan on moving the items in the "Page Options" section to different places on the site, so this no longer needs its own section. Please try to use whatever ideas you may have for where to place these icons. Otherwise, the only change would be two 300x250 banners instead. However, these banners should be separated by at least one section. Video Listing Page: Given the base layout and style, please redesign http://www.realitylapse.com/pages/selectvideos.php to portray the same information while providing a more elegant way to apply the various filters.
