Vladislav got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Leadership and Sustainability School needs a new website design
Check out Vladislav's Web page design contest…
We are a nine year old sustainability and leadership school looking to redesign our website to better reflect what we do and to put forth a more formal and coherent imagine, especially as we seek to provide online trainings in addition to our in-person educational offerings.
Color scheme should be both earth-tone-based, but also vivid. We want to make it clear that we're a sustainability school, but also not project a hippy-dippy image. We're corporate but also very much earth-based. We want to have the super clean feel of www.new.edu but with a very earth-based sustainability-grounded reality. We are looking for a balance between www.new.edu and www.esalen.org in the design.
We need a single template that we can use throughout our site, keeping the current structure basically the same. We are looking for something SUPER clean (we're about to launch online trainings and overall want the site to simply make sense logically) but also convey our commitment to nature -- our roots are in designing with nature. We are moving into two distinct directions: online education as well as more in-person trainings - permaculture workshops as well as wilderness outdoor education programs. We need to convey our connection to nature but also that we're a very well established institution at this point that's fairly corporate in nature -- our ideal target audience is actually corporate executives who are looking for more coherent ways to lead their lives and careers. The basic layout of the site between the header and the footer should stay the same (content on the left, sidebar on right). The header and the footer should be completely redesigned graphically. Please redesign the "download your free green living ebook" box to draw attention; integrate in the header. On subpages, we'll make it a top sidebar box. Also please demonstrate the bottom popup (again redesigned to match the new design). The bottom popup should take up about 30-40% less vertical space. We want it to grab attention, but not be obtrusive. We want a top menu bar like www.new.edu - look at how it expands on the homepage to include a big image but then the image disappears on the header of the subpages. So the menu bar should be similar. Please demonstrate drop-down menus. Clean typography (again new.edu rocks) is ESSENTIAL. The other thing we love about new.edu is their attention to spacing on the website - all the elements have just the right amount of space around them; the typography is lined up to different elements, etc. Please demonstrate the elements that they have - buttons, content boxes, forms such as http://new.edu/info/tuition/ and tables. We also need consistent layout for the sidebars. Summary: site similar (BUT NOT COPIED) like new.edu, super clean but demonstrating a profound sense of nature connection through its design. Our message is sustainability and leadership. We want to convey a super professional image rooted in nature.
Have fun with this - we're looking for a super unique design! The winner of the content will very likely go on to help us design other elements for new projects we're currently launching.
