JSZao needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 84 designs submitted by 24 freelance designers.
We're developing a website for one of the largest cooking sites on the internet, and we want your help! We're looking for several mockups, intensely professional, minimalist, simple.
What'sCookingAmerica.net
We are re-designing this website from the ground-up. Some of it's competitors include myrecipes.com, allrecipes.com, epicurious.com, http://www.recipezaar.com/. These are the competitors that we need to crush :) Layout should be liquid, elastic...we're looking at users with 800x600 and 2300x1900, so flexibility is important. Each PSD mockup should have a home page 'look', 'article page', recipe page, a 'secondary content' page, search/results page, open to others if you have thoughts. Please review the website for an idea of the content involved and the site map, etc. When desigining, please keep the current AdSense ads in mind with the design...also note, we have no use for banner ads in the design. We have very well-paying clients, so for the right designer, we can be an extremely profitable client. We do not need help in programming/coding, just the design of the site. To re-emphasize, this site will most likely be one of your most visible portfolio pieces, as this site gets tens of millions of pageviews every year.
UPDATE:
To clarify, as some have asked, we ARE planning on choosing a winner. That will be dependant upon client approval. Once the contest has less than 24 hours left, we will narrow the field down to the top 8 that we like. At that point, we will send the mockups from the top 8 to the client. If they like none of them, we'll extend the contest, adding their critiques to the contest. If they like one with no modification requests, we'll award the prize to that winner, if they like a few with modification requests, we will PM those designers. To emphasize, all designers retain full rights to their design unless we pay them for it, we only retain rights to the winning design as chosen by the client.
UPDATE #2
Some have asked if the logo can be enhanced or re-designed. We're not currently looking for it to be re-designed, but feel free to enhance or sharpen it as you see fit for your submission. While appreciated, it is not the most important aspect of the contest.
- Color scheme consistent with current logo. Please download current logo from site as reference.
- Minimalist, simple design. Not to be confused with boring, unprofessional, or lackluster. - Note, current site is minimalist, as is http://www.book-by-its-cover.com/ - Worlds apart ;)
- The rest is up to you! Feel free, be creative, and enjoy having a portfolio piece that reaches millions, if you win.
- No templates
- No over-kill designs
- No rip-offs
