The logo of the organisation is not yet defined and will certainly derive from Seaska’s logo. The tagline on the logo is optional.
In addition to the logo, the header will have a language switcher. It allows the user to switch between language is one click. That’s why all languages will have to be on screen, in plain text (no flag) and not to be accessed via drop down (Usability issue).
The languages are:
Ideally, the navigation will be provided in a unique horizontal menu with access to subsections displayed when clicking on the primary sections.
There could be a slideshow of images, or just a single and meaningful image (It could be a stock image costs on us or an illustration) to catch the attention of the visitor. There is no specific image(s) at the moment. The image(s) will change according to any feature/event/action to highlight so not much effort is required on the imagery.
The front page will have 3 main call to actions that will take the user to 3 different locations on the website. They will ideally contain 3 icons or glyphs to illustrate each of them:
- Find out what Seaska is about
- Subscribe to the newsletter
- Make a donation
There will likely be modifications on the call to actions at a later stage, and will deal with the designer should we need a new set of icons.
The frontpage will gather some general information such as upcoming events, latest news, meetings briefings and a search bar.
The footer is divided in two sections: Contact us and Links
The contact us form and social media links must have some relationship as they both provide a bond between the user and us. Finally the footer will have to cater for a list of links, endorsing logos, terms and condition and the usual legal notices.
As a general aspect, the grid system will have to work with content pages, keeping a main column on the left and a secondary/feature column on the right. Ideally the design would fit Twitter’s Boostrap framework’s grid.
970px max width as guidance, backgrounds can bleed of of this area.
The design will have to be easily adjustable to a responsive design and will be integrated as a wordpress theme.
