I am a 26-year old professional tenor opera singer living in Toronto, Ontario. I have almost everything needed so far to build a musical press kit: business cards (coming next week), demo CD, headshot, resume, but I am missing a website to connect the dots. The culture of my company (ie my opera singing) is fairly conservative, simply because of the demographics of the classical music world. I am trying to sell myself as a reliable, skilled, young professional tenor who is climbing up the ranks of the opera world.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
-stage directors, opera directors, conductors, choir directors...anyone who is looking to hire a tenor!
-agents in the music business
-other professional musicians
-friends and family
-simple, elegant and easy to navigate. No fancy flash, bells or whistles. A director should be able to find my audio sample and know what operas I've performed in within 10 seconds.
-I am looking for a design that reflects my voice: I have a light, agile voice but with a firmness and strength to it that you would not find in a lot of pop singers. I've attached vocal clips so you can translate my voice into design ideas! Surprise me!
-in terms of layout, I am open to side bars on the left or on top...from what I've seen they both work well
-for colors, I would prefer a white or off-white background with a color accent. Some of my favorite colors are light blue and forest green. Feel free to surprise me...but no pink:)
Update: since I don't have a professional quote yet, please build the front page without a quote. Also, if you are going to use the colour photo with the blue/green background, please do not extend the colour with photoshop. I know a lot of you have tried that, but the textures in the background of the photo are so different it just really draws attention to the fact that it is photoshopped and I do not think it works well.
Number of pages
I would like one page designed with all the buttons on it that counts as the hompage, similar to Anna Netrebko's site. When you would click on the button, it would use the same template with different central content.
There should be tabs for all the elements a director or agent is looking for (note these tab names are not set in stone):
-the homepage will introduce me briefly and show upcoming events
-1st tab: Bio/CV (a few paragraphs describing myself and my recent accomplishments). At the bottom, a linked text to my CV.
-2nd tab: Audio/Video
-3rd tab: Schedule (redirect back to home page)
-4th tab: Photos (various headshots)
-5th tab: Press kit (includes all the physical materials in a press kit
-6th tab: Contact
It must include one headshot photo. My primary headshot is the one up against the blue wall, but if you feel that a black and white headshot is better to reflect the design scheme then run with it!
There should be room to add two future tabs: 'discography' and 'Reviews/Awards'.
http://www.annanetrebko.com/ -I LOVE this website! Simple, elegant and shows off the singer well. The top is a little too busy for me, though.
http://www.benhammondmusic.com -This is a wonderful one-page website but I want something lighter color-wise and more classically-oriented and less busy.
