The Webmaster Centre got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Raise the roof with a vibrant design for the internationally renowned NYIOP

Entertainment & The Arts
NYIOP is a well-established company based in the USA but operating all over the world. Currently their focus is to organise and hold auditions for opera singers, at which theatres and agents are present. However, they have a new vision for the future of the company and would like to expand into education and work more to connect people in the industry. Their new strapline is Discovering. Informing. Innovating. Connecting. They wish to reflect all of these aspects of their work in a new, dynamic community website. Their target audience are singers, casting directors and agents. This may expand to include other performance artists so this needs to be kept in mind when creating the design.
The client has already had a number of logos designed for the different areas of his site. I have attached these so you can use them and get a sense of the feeling of vibrancy that he wants to convey. His idea was that the green was for artists, blue for producers/casting directors and orange for agencies. We need it to be bright and active.
We would like the Homepage designing please. The site will have a private section available only to "Insider" subscribers, so we will need a link to login to this or register. There will be a large amount of media on the site including webinars, videos of auditions, monthly lecture, blogs, podcasts, calendar of events and polls. All of these need to be displayed or linked to on the Home Page. In particular, visitors to the site should be able to sign up to the next webinar, see a list of auditions coming up and sign up to them, and see events in a calendar. Social media follow buttons will be required for Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Tumblr. We will also need a sign-up form for the newsletter. Colours need to match those on the main logo (labelled New-NYIOP-Logo---Rebrand---Hi-Res.png) We will be carrying out a 'soft launch' with just a simple landing page that incorporates a list of auditions and signup form, and signup for the webinars. Please bear this in mind when creating your design so that we can easily display this without all the extra bits and pieces, without having to move things around too much if possible.
What to avoid
Although we do not expect the final site will be 100% compliant with the W3C standards, please avoid design elements that can't easily be implemented in accordance with those standards (e.g. Silverlight, iFrames, Flash) as we need the site to be robust in situations such as being viewed on mobile devices and screen readers.
The designs need to be created as specifically for Drupal as possible. This means: * The design needs to be flexible enough for us to apply to different types of pages or content that will appear on the site such as blogs, articles, videos, contact pages and so on. * The design needs to be supplied so that it can be applied in a responsive style (to work on all devices) * The main body area should be a fixed width around 960px to 1024px. * Graphical devices should be kept to a sensible level. For any graphical backgrounds that you employ in your design, please be aware that with the Drupal CMS, content and block columns don't always stay the same width or height, so please ensure that your design provides extra area for background images to allow for that variability. If your design includes non-browser-generated, non-web-safe fonts in the main content areas of the site or for buttons, menu links or section headings, ideally those fonts should be available from either Google Fonts or Typekit. If not, we expect the fonts to be included in the price and provided at handover. This should be as a full web kit which includes EOT, OT, TTF and SVG versions. The design needs to be supplied as a layered psd, so that we can pull all the elements out easily. If you can demonstrate how things react when hovered over etc that would be helpful. Finally, we're looking overall for a design that is graceful in all situations and will work in most modern browsers (IE, FireFox, Chrome, Opera, Safari).
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Web page design starts at $799.
