Huggingtheroad.com is a boutique travel site that specializes in humorous, fun travel stories. We focus on the "story" aspect of travel, and are not going to be spending a lot of time explaining hotel pricing and where to find the best tacos (unless in it's in a sort of tongue-in-cheek kind of way). The site will deliver text, video, and audio in brief bites and will also carry referred content from other sites. Overall, we want to create an extremely clean and pleasurable experience for our viewers and to get them feeling good about joining our community.

The Homepage should carry the logo prominently and feature a layout that will work well with a Wordpress customization but not look too much like your standard header/body template. About six to twelve story teasers with thumbnails should feature on the topscreen, including links to the following: -About -Submit Also, keep in mind that when a story teaser is clicked, we want the teaser area to fill out with the full story and then when they're done reading they can just click back to return to the original thumbnail and teaser layout. So there has to be some free expandability below the thumbnail/teaser grid. (OF COURSE, WE ARE NOT THE DESIGNERS; IF YOU HAVE A BETTER WAY OF KEEPING THE MOVEMENT FROM THUMBNAILS TO CONTENT AND BACK CLEAN THEN, BY ALL MEANS, SHOW US!) Also, there should be a newsletter signup box and room for AT LEAST three 120px ad spaces. In addition, heavily socialized with a FB feed and a Twitter feed. That's it! Very simple and clean. But wherever there's room for some creativity within these basic parameters, show us what you've got! We definitely are interested in dynamic fonts, in a non-standard layout, and in a site that will easily translate to mobile devices and be very adaptable to all browsers. Also, because this will be a WP site, think about widget spaces so that we can add things later...so there has to be some flexibility within the above parameters. Please keep in mind that huggingtheroad.com is currently just a personal blog site. The new design and content will have nothing to do with the current one.
We really like the idea of having changeable backgrounds or selectable background colors or some other interactive element. Target demo: teens to forties, educated, enjoy humor and travel/adventure; outdoorsy perhaps, but really the site is so experience-based that we're more focused on targeting fun people stuck at their desk jobs all week, needing just a few minutes of escape. A sense of playfulness and escape...quirky and with personality. Can't wait to see what you've got!!
