Entertainment & The Arts
I am a comedian. I perform live in front of every kind of audience you can name (clubs, churches, casinos, theaters, cruise ships, colleges, etc, etc, etc). I have a lot of TV experience (I have a commercial running right now in Missouri). I write (I'm a published author - via Penguin - more on that if you like), I compose music, and I perform.
I don't want this to look like any other website so I don't have a favorite to show you... But I am drawn to the following: 1950's-style rock'n'roll and rockabilly album art; late-50's and early-60's beatnik-style artwork; movie posters and promotional pieces from the 1970s and 1980s; I also like stylized graphics - example: taking the designs used in street signs and road signs (outlines of nondescript human beings with no feet and no hands - think thick stick-people - that could be used for a unique website banner and logo). I like cartoon art, but specifically styled cartoon art. Example: "Zippy the Pinhead." Website: www.zippythepinhead. NOTE:I don't like the website - but check out the daily strips - I like the artwork and the idea of "word balloons". I'm using some cartoonish artwork on my website now, but I want to upgrade EVERYTHING. I don't want the emphasis to be on puppets. I want the emphasis to be about comedy. Another tact might be to use Broadway-style theater posters for a home page, which would require a logo/banner of my name, plus graphics that relate to what I do on stage (as with a Sondheim musical?). Plus I'm open to criticism, suggestion and all inspiration!
I want a dynamic, exciting, unique home page/1st page that gives the visitor to my site a choice of what they'd like: a link to my calendar; an "industry-only" link (that would include links to videos, past projects and testimonials, plus basic facts about what I do); a link to my blog page; a link to my merchandise page; links to booking agent and personal manager, etcetera. Similar to what I have now, but a much more dynamic look and feel to the experience. A second page would include my Bio, my latest tweets, and something value-added - perhaps I welcome visitors to the taylormason.com website with a song or a monologue? Plus links to the information above.
Just that I want something memorable, entertaining, informational and something with a clear sense of humor.
