Entertainment & The Arts
I write comic books, science fiction, and funny stories. My audience are educated, informed, and creative (I think).
I would like to have a simple, colorful, blog-style homepage, and would like the article pages to have web-comic navigation & formatting. Responsive designs are an enormous plus.
Homepage: This should feature the logo. Responsive design is a huge bonus. Include standard menu navigation to Folio, Comics, Bio, and Rants pages. I have the following categories for work: Featured, Stories, Comics, Rants. I would like to include at least 1, but not more than 3, Featured works on the home page. They can be at the top or near the middle. Sidebars are not necessary, but the page should include a way to sign up for the newsletter & a list of links to "Friends and People We Like", & a list or calendar for upcoming events. The footer of the page should include generic contact information (firstname.lastname@example.org), new versions of the menu navigation items, and a repeat or different version of the newsletter signup submission. Portfolio: A thumbnail list of stories and other content, with layout similar to the home page, organized into Stories, Comics, Rants. The Portfolio will include much more content than the home page, so it should be formatted without larger Featured content Comics: This should be a single-page for pre-formatted content. I like the style of Strong Female Protagonist (from Inspirational Websites above). I would prefer minimal distractions from web comic & book pages. Page navigation (first, previous, next, last) should be above and below the content. Author Bio: just a simple page with a photo of the author that matches the style of other pages. Maybe include a calendar or list of events, and maybe a list of Friends
What to avoid
I do not want a dark page (black background). The core design should be clean, with colors matching the logo provided in the brief.
I would prefer a standard look across all pages, including header navigation and footer content. I would like to use the grid lines from the logo (science graph, Cartesian plane) to some effect either in the header or the page layout.
