How steven.alig started their wordpress theme design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We provide website design services for attorneys and law firms.
Our system is a highly customized version of WordPress with a simplified backend that makes it very easy and affordable for a busy professional to do it themselves. We design with a Mobile First philosophy. Target Audience are: Young attorneys. Recent law school graduates. Experienced attorneys looking to start their own firm. Existing law firms looking for a fresh new web design.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the WordPress theme?
Home page should be single long scrolling page (see attached wire frame for sections. Please note that sections are not built to scale in the wirefame). I will also want to see a blog page layout as well as a single blog post layout (both with a two column layout). I am very open to the overall look and feel within certain guidelines. The logo (see attached file) can be used as a guide. I want to make sure that the website appeals to the legal community without being old and stuffy. Must be young and fresh looking. My target audience is image conscious and it is important that they know we are as well. Initially we are targeting younger attorneys but will also appeal to more experienced professionals as well.
Keywords to define the website are:
Clean fresh design. Professional and powerful. Young. New.
Sticky Navigation that sticks to the top of the site. (Please see attached sitemap Phase 1 for navigation to be included in the design)
Website will be responsive so I will want to see the stacking of elements for each page.
Homepage sections (please see wireframe attached): Top Navigation, Large Parallax image with about us text, Benefits, Designs, Pricing, Testimonials, Footer. Each section in the body of the homepage should have a call to action to sign up.
Blog Page: Listing of blog post excerpts with (and without featured images) show 5 sample posts with dates along with pagination. Side bar should be included with a signup call to action. Sidebar can also contain recent posts, archive or any other filler you can think of.
Blog post page: Single post layout with featured image at the top. Title and body text, inline image example and sidebar (similar to other sidebar above). Also show navigation for previous and next posts. Date of post.
The internal pages should be sure to include typical design elements from navigation, rollovers, Google fonts used, font colors, link colors, visited link colors, H1, H2, H3, H4 text
What to avoid
Open to ideas, however I would like to stay away from clear cliche's like stock photography of a gavel, scales of justice, persons shaking hands, courthouse entrance, etc...
I would like to have access to any photography that is used so that I can purchase or have legal rights to use on my website. This includes any illustrations or graphics created as well as links to any photography used from a stock photo bank (ie. Istockphoto.com) Please contact me with any questions or clarification.
